Terms of Service

Last updated: May 2026  ·  Version 1.0  ·  Applies to BeTenant app and website

Key points — please read

1. About BeTenant

BeTenant is operated by [YOUR COMPANY NAME], registered in England and Wales (company number [YOUR COMPANY NUMBER]). These Terms govern your use of the BeTenant mobile application, website, and all related services (together, "the Service").

By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use BeTenant.

For questions: contact@betenant.com

2. Not legal advice — important

BeTenant is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice. Nothing in the Service constitutes legal advice, creates a solicitor-client relationship, or is a substitute for professional legal advice.

Ren (our AI Tenant Agent) provides information based on the Renters' Rights Act 2025 and related housing legislation. Ren's responses are not legal advice. Always seek independent legal advice from a qualified solicitor for complex legal matters. For free advice, contact Shelter or Citizens Advice.

3. Who can use BeTenant

To use BeTenant, you must:

BeTenant is exclusively for tenants. Use of the Service by landlords, letting agents, property management companies, or any person acting on behalf of a landlord is prohibited and may constitute a breach of these Terms.

4. Your account

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and password. Please use a strong, unique password and enable two-factor authentication where available.

You must not share your account with others or use another person's account without permission.

Notify us immediately at security@betenant.com if you suspect your account has been compromised.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, with reasonable notice where possible.

5. Your content

You own all content you create and upload to BeTenant — photographs, issue notes, evidence logs, and any other materials ("Your Content").

By using the Service, you grant BeTenant a limited, non-exclusive licence to store, process, and display Your Content solely to provide the Service to you. We do not use Your Content for advertising, sell it, or share it with landlords, letting agents, or third parties — except as described in our Privacy Policy and your explicit use of the app's export features.

You are responsible for the accuracy of content you submit. Do not submit false or misleading information.

6. Generated letters and documents

BeTenant generates formal letters and PDF evidence reports based on information you provide. These documents are drafted to reflect applicable housing law at the time of generation.

You are responsible for:

BeTenant is not liable for any outcome arising from the use of generated documents.

7. Ren — AI Tenant Agent

Ren is an AI assistant powered by Anthropic's Claude model and trained to answer questions about UK housing law and the Renters' Rights Act 2025.

Your statutory consumer rights are not affected by these Terms.

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be notified by email and in-app at least 14 days before taking effect. Continued use of the Service after that date constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
